Who are All Saint's Church Marlpool?

All Saint’s is the parish church of Marlpool, an ex-mining community on the outskirts of the town of Heanor which is equidistant between the cities of Derby and Nottingham. As you can see from the photograph, the building is pretty modern by English church standards. It was built in 1902 and burnt to the ground on Christmas Eve 1949  due to an electrical fault – all that remained was the tower. The church as you see it today was rebuilt in 1952 and stayed much the same until 200? when it was extensively re-ordered.  Today, as well as the worship area itself, the building has a first floor hall and fully fitted kitchen, several ground floor meeting rooms, full accessibility to all areas, a loop system and disabled access toilets.

So much for the building – what about the ‘church’ that is, the people?

We are a very small congregation but we endeavour to punch above our weight. You’ll see from the various posts that we are active in our community and beyond. In fact this publication is an example of our approach. After several years of producing and distributing  a hard copy magazine we decided to change to an online model as a more effective way of reaching out  beyond our existing circle of contacts.
